CORBERÁN: “BEING ABLE TO GIVE THE FANS A WIN GENERATES SATISFACTION FOR THE DRESSING ROOM”

The coach’s press conference after victory against Getafe CF
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán talked after his team’s 3-0 win against Getafe CF on LaLiga Matchday 3.
THE TEAM IN THE SECOND HALF
“I'm satisfied, because we were able to give the fans a victory today. As I said beforehand, there's nothing this group wants more than to show our gratitude the way we did, working hard. The support we've had, with more than 45,000 people in the stadium, is incredible. In difficult moments, they’ve never stopped cheering for the team. It's very satisfying for the dressing room to be able to give the fans a victory, because of how much they support us.”
“Regarding the game and the squad, you need to have options to be competitive. Players who are good enough to start, start, and players who are good enough to start are also on the bench. This keeps us competitive in every minute of the game. For me, those who start a game and those who finish it are equally important, because every minute of a match is decisive. It's important that we keep the group mentally strong. The collective interest must always come before any individual interest, so that Valencia CF, as a team, win by having more options on the bench.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF IMMEDIATE PERFORMANCE FROM SIGNINGS
“We must take advantage of the international break to work. There have been new players who have been brought in, and they need to get up to speed and assimilate ideas. It will be beneficial for the team's growth. We will look at each game and see what needs to be corrected and what needs to be emphasised. Today, I'm impressed by the mentality and effort of those who started, but also by those who came on. All the substitutes who came on contributed: Ramazani with the assist and Copete defending in the box. Pepelu made a huge impact in the game, winning many duels, and seeing the team's collective commitment to achieving the result leaves you very satisfied.”
RELIEVING PRESSURE
“We always have to look ahead to the future. The team ARE very focused on doing things well. The team have the ability to be self-critical in order to continue growing. And when we haven't done things the way we wanted, we can look at them, accept them, correct them, and commit to improving many aspects. I liked the team's mentality today, the competitive tension with which we played. That's important to keep making progress.”
DIAKHABY'S GOAL
“I always make collective assessments, which is what's important. When a team have a good collective performance, it's the result of the individual performances by all the players. Diakhaby's performance was extraordinary and he made an important contribution to the result.”

CHANGES TO THE STARTING LINEUP
“I'm happy with the team's performance. There were positive aspects and areas that needed improvement, because a 3-0 win can't hide aspects of our game that we need to continue improving. With the changes, based on the previous match and the one we’re going to play next, we're trying to help the team be more competitive by deciding which players can help us the most in the context of the game that we anticipate.”
TRANSFER MARKET NEWS
“The match has been the only thing on my mind all week. It's clear that the club continue to work, and I have no doubt that the squad will be strengthened and completed in the way we need to. The timeframe for things to happen is determined by the transfer market, but the club have had an intense summer; the commitment to strengthening the team is maximum. We're aware that there's a position that needs to be improved, and the work being done by the sports management is aimed at achieving that goal.”
ALTERNATIVES IN THE SQUAD
“This year the team will have a more variable starting XI. This year, Valencia CF have more options. We've put together a squad that, when completed with the player we're missing, will have two players in each position at a level that allows us to compete -regardless of who plays. That's very positive. If the players have the mentality to commit to the team, the team will compete in the games, because there are possibilities. When there's a player out, another player will come in who's equally important and has the ability to perform well. When you make changes, the player who comes in has the same level, and you increase freshness. It won't be a season in which I'll stick so heavily to a starting XI. I'll have players who will allow us to make decisions based on the previous game and the game that is coming up.”
DANI RABA'S ROTATION
“I would have been angry with Raba if he was happy when I substituted him. I never saw any disrespect. I didn't perceive that, and it wasn't that. Any player, when substituted, is never going to be happy, but they have to convey the utmost respect. I perceived that. I didn't see him making any faces or making any comments. He had to be the one sacrificed, and that's part of football. He understands that, and everyone else understands it. I can't try to make a show of authority towards something that I didn't see as a lack of authority. Today's lineup was down to the game we expect today. And what's positive for Valencia CF is having players with starting level quality on the bench, because that means we have a better team.”

DANJUMA'S FIRST GOAL
“I'm satisfied not only with the goal, but also with his workrate. I'm convinced he's a player who, the more games and training sessions he plays with the team, will adapt more to everything: To the way we press, defend, and attack. Danjuma is a player I don't have to learn about. We're aware that he can take people on and has finishing that will help the team a lot.”
DIFFERENT PROFILES IN THE SQUAD
“Often, one thinks that duplicating profiles also helps. You gain stability, and the team can remain the same if a player is not there. When there's less similarity between the different players in a position, when one changes, the team has to be affected. I have a squad with potential and a high level. I liked the competitive tension with which they played the game.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF DANJUMA AND RAMAZANI
“What's important to me is the work, the commitment and the dedication on the pitch, above what they ultimately achieve. I find it hard to single out the players who finished off opportunities, because everyone's commitment was notable: Santamaría's dedication, Diakhaby's workrate, César, Foulquier, Jesús Vázquez... I don't think there's a single player who didn't perform to the level the match demanded. I'm satisfied when I see that in my team, beyond decisive actions. I want to see that effort and workrate, because that's what allows you to continue growing.”
ASPECTS TO IMPROVE
“There's always room for improvement. I have a reference, and it's the identity I want the team to have. The identity we want is to be a solid and aggressive team defensively. We have to be able to be both. Today, at times, we were as aggressive as we want to be. At times, we were solid. We must be aware of when we can do one thing and another, and know how to do it based on the opponents’ structure. In attack, we must be a team that have control and dominance, and also the ability to progress and damage the opposition. Those are values we want the team to embody, and we'll always have opponents who will test us and try to prevent that from happening. Growth is about that. Depending on the opposition’s intentions, you have to find certain solutions. In that sense, growth is infinite. But, by analysing the match, you'll always find aspects to improve. And by preparing in detail for the next one, you’ll find aspects that will be key to consolidating and dominating the game.”
